From Bali to Back Home

Sweet home San Francisco. Yup, we're back, we've been back for over a week, and I bet you figured the email updates were done. over. kaput. We were kinda skeptical ourselves about whether we'd fulfill the promise with the final email. But here it goes.

Thanksgiving to December 1st

On Thanksgiving we forgot it was Thanksgiving [I'm sure there's no Tofurkey in Bali, but even if there were I don't think we would have trusted it after the tofu-on-a-stick experience]. Instead we went shopping in Kuta, and saw the bomb site. On Friday we went on the island tour. I guess you'll have to wait for the pictures to see some of the island sights that we saw. They included Balinese dancing, the volcano, and the stepped rice paddies. On Saturday we went shopping with our walkie talkies. This involved a sort of hide and seek and "where are you" as we wandered around Legian street and the surrounding neighborhood looking for souvenirs. We ended up on Kuta Beach, and watched the sunset as we walked back to our hotel. It was pretty dramatic with the clouds and the surfers making the vista truly exotic (at least to our midwestern eyes).

Sunday soon came and we had to come to grips with the fact that our holiday was ending. Of course, there was still the 50+ hour trip back, but in an effort to suppress traumatic memories, I will pretend that didn't happen.

So now we're home, in Oakland, where we've been for a week. As we try and put our regular life back together (we've got sooooo many cardboard boxes to collapse) we are still trying to figure out how to properly archive all of our memories from the wedding and honeymoon. Sooner or later, we'll get some more photos on the web. And more later than sooner we've sent out this final email so that you don't think we've somehow fallen into the Pacific.

But most of all we'd like to thank all of you for being a part of our wedding experience. It's great to have friends and family like you.

We'd like to promise not to take too long in getting the pictures up, but when you are chronic procrastinators, like Kelly and I, you realize that making this type of promise would be counter-productive.

Thanks again for everything, and we hope you've enjoyed reading about our adventures in Southeast Asia.
